Vau Vau Fashion Show - Catch Up

Better late than never...
Here are some of my photos from the fabulous VAU VAU Fashion Show which raised over £2000 for Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Cancer Research UK.

It was an incredibly unique event and it offered something different from the usual fashion show. From the old abandoned Leftbank Church it was held in, to the alternative style of the models and outfits. The event was amazing fun and everybody’s enthusiasm was evident throughout regardless of the Northern cold.

As one of the main assistants to the fashion show I was there early helping set up and generally running around like a mad man.

There were also a really good selection of stalls there

The hair was done by the incredible Rebel Pin Up who specialize in offering ‘cutting edge hairdressing with a rock and roll attitude’ and if it wasn’t for my placement searching I would be heading straight there for a head full of colour and a dramatic cut as they really are the best hairdressers for colouring in Leeds. For this show there was a mix of vintage rolls, mad crimping and massive horns and antlers.

I also had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful Vivi Sterling from Texas, who has the nicest accent, a mix between Scottish and Texas.

The event was wonderful and I like to thank the organisers Toria Brightside and Emma Parry for getting me involved and doing a fantastic job and to Fashion Pony for sponsoring the show.

Have you seen us?

Leeds RAG Fashion Show is nearly here!

I'm so incredibly excited for tomorrow, which is set to be the most stressful, hectic but also the most rewarding day of the year. I cannot wait to see the final result and all of our hard work put together.

I am currently sat in the final rehersal frantically typing this blog post before I'm pulled into action and am surrounded by mass hysteria and the air of excitement as all the models find out all the final details. All of which are top secret at the moment so I'm afraid I cannot tell you. Basically expect the weird and wonderful!!

If you don't already know the show is sponsored by Harvey Nichols so this isn't going to be any ordinary university fashion show, expect Prada, Armani, Burberry, ACNE, Gucci and much much more! As well as an eclectic mixture of vintage and current clothes.

The clock's ticking guys, so get your tickets QUICK from either our new Pop-Up shop opposite Essentials in Leeds University Union or http://www.leedstickets.com/eventinfo/3265/RAG-Fashion-Show

Here are the posters which have been all around campus for the past few weeks:

Can I measure your bust?

Before Christmas we had the first formal model meeting held in Quilted Lama in Leeds, for Leeds RAG Fashion Show. This was a chance for all of the models to get together and be measured ready for their upcoming fittings. It was fun to see which models out of the ones I had model scouted were chosen for the final cut and surprisingly a lot of the people I had scouted were there, which made me feel rather proud. Lots of the models looked nervous, which I would be when placed in a room full of fellow beautiful people. As a non-model member of the gang it’s nice not to feel as much pressure to look ‘beautiful’.

I was too busy measuring the models, and having the awkward feeling up of boobs and crotches, to take photos. However the lovely Tish took some photos of the night and there are loads more RAG Fashion Show photos to come.

VAU VAU Fashion Show

(Since Christmas I've taken a sabbatical from blogging due to exams, deadlines and assessment centres. Once my final deadline on Monday is over I will be back for good!

Today I'm working at the VAU VAU Fashion show hosted by the lovely Toria Brightside.
This is a charity fashion show with 100% of the proceeds going to Cancer Research UK and Guide Dogs for the Blind. The first being a charity very close to my heart and the second being one which is bringing puppies to the event means that I'm very excited to be doing my bit for such great causes!

Its being held in a church which adds to the excitement, plus the fact it is going to be a hell of a lot of fun.

The show will showcase some of the best up-and-coming, under the radar Leeds designers, as well as an art and fashion market with over 20 stalls. And models including published Front and Bizarre models, as well as my friends Lauren and Helen walking in the show.

With tickets at just £8 if you are around make sure you come down to check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Tickets available from:
Dusty and Dylan, Otley Road, Headingly
Paper Dress Vintage, New York Street
